Do you feel safer than you did 4 years ago?

AFB

Lifer
I added I variety of answers seeing as this really can't be expressed in a yes or no answer properly.

Yeah, sure, I feel fine. Fortunately, I don't live my life in fear of everything and everyone.

Does that answer your question?

Considering there are no major buildings in my area that would pose a significant target to anybody, I'm inclined to say the same for my personal safety.

Is America safer in general? Hell no

Well, I may not live in NYC or Chicago or anywhere else with recognizable towers (except for maybe the Liberty Plaza here in Philadelphia), but there are historical landmarks. Even still, I feel fine.

Of course not. The world now sees the US as the greedy imperialistic bad guy, and we've been kind enough to supply al Qaeda with exactly the scenario it was hoping for. We've had 4 different bureau heads resign in disgust over this admin not taking terrorism seriously enough, and a multitude of generals have gone on record as saying the last 2 years has been sheer idiocy. The ranks of terrorists are flourishing, and OBL just received permission from religious scholars to use nukes against us - which sounds horrible as our interdiction of black market weapons materials has all but stopped since Bush was originally selected as PotUS.

Safer? I'd feel safer in a Russian submarine.

For the three people that feel less safe, why?

Because I live in New York.

Not to mention that NY's per person gov't expenditure on safety is ~$5/person, versus some podunk states that average $30+ per person.

Hey, that DHS money had to go somewhere, and you should know that major oil companies are more deserving than states -- including Shell!

But but but 50.9% are very pleased by this, why aren't you??? 😕

I am much less safe and far less hopeful, security wise, fiscally, morally, philosophically. Security is the least important to me by far.

And then theres that whole "peak oil" thing. Its hard to be hopeful with that on the horizon.

Because some people only seem pleased when we just stick our collective thumbs in our a55 and do nothing, pretending that if we leave them alone they'll leave us alone.

Some people are only content to kill everything that moves.

There's doing nothing, and then there's foolishly undertaking that which one doesn't understand, making a bad situation worse than it already is. Pity we can't strike a happy medium between the two eh?

Yeah, I know, I've got some nerve. I work within spitting distance of the capitol, makes the prospect of 9/11 v2.0 seem a little scary I guess. 😉

You, I assume, are alive. Do you remain perfectly still to garner that status?

Striking a happy medium requires compromise, something the opposition has shown no good faith or willingness to do.

And sometimes a bad situation has to get worse before it gets better. This is one of those times.

So, when are we invading North Korea?

No, it doesn't. I believe this is called 'assumption of facts'.

See above.

Now now, you know the Bushies get to apply their moral consideration on a selective basis.
