A particle of mass m moves in a smooth straight horizontal tube which rotates with constant velocity w about a vertical axis which intersects the tube. Set up the equations of motion in polar coordinates and derive and expression for the distance of the particle from the rotation axis. If the particle is at r=r0 at t=0, what velocity must it have along the tube in order that it will be very close to the rotation axis after a very long time?
