I've noticed that whenever I'm in a place where there are kids running around or climbing on things, I'm usually keeping my eye on them just to make sure they aren't going to hurt or kill themselves when their parents have disappeared for whatever reason.

I don't want to see a kid get hurt, but I was curious to know how many other people are usually looking out for the same thing.
 
Of course. You never know what might happen. How much I pay attention to them though depends on how many other adults (their parents, etc) are around.
 
I drive past a school on my way to work with a traffic light right in front of it... if I hit the light, sometimes I'll look at what they're wearing to see what's "in" with the youth. figure it's good practice for when my niece grows up.
 
I roll my eyes and then mumble something about how parents should keep their loud, annoying brats at home.

Someone elses children? Hell no.

My grandkids? yes...like a hawk.


I used to keep an eye on other's kids...I don't like to see anyone's kids get hurt needlessly, but too many parents get huffy when you interfere.

So...fuck em. Let their precious angels take a dive off the top of the McDonald's Playland or run into the street. It's the parents' problem not mine.

(All bets are off though when there are NO adults around. In such cases, I'll probably get involved, and take the heat for it later if it comes to that.)

I don't really like that I've developed this attitude, but...it was more or less forced on me.


I've gotten to the point where I'd probably not stop an adult from doing something stupid either.
Let Darwin win a round or two occasionally...it's good for the gene pool.

nope. Kids need to get scraped good a few times so they learn not to do that shit anymore. This also teaches the proper people to keep an eye on them.

Now if I saw a kid in grave danger, sure I would jump in.
 
I generally ignore kids I don't know. Pay too much attention to them and they might try to talk to you. I don't find random kids to be cute. Generally they are just annoying and ask too many questions.
 
not really. i always have this feeling that if i'm watching them, someone will think i'm a pedophile or something.
