Do you ever get confused if a thread is a parody of another thread?

It seems to be at times that just about every other thread is a paraody.

Since most of us aren't on here 24/7 it is hard to tell which one isn't a paraody anymore

Any pointers you guys have?

edit: you guys are crazy....this isn't a paraody thread!

not that i am aware of anyways!

I get equally confused then have to hope I discover the original that allows it all to make sense in my little mind. :D

i can usually sniff them out. something about them just doesnt sit right. i have been fooled before though!

I get really sick of parody threads. Most are not even funny or entertaining.

I'm still pretty new here, so there are still some confusing things.... mostly the terms used.

ie. I looked up "nef" on urbandictionary.com (anandtech.com definition was #1), I don't know what IIRC means yet, I don't know what my own user rating is and I'm not sure how to check, etc etc... (i'm assuming this means diddly squat since I haven't seen any over 5/10)... my list goes on and on.

I used to run a BBS back in the late 80s / early 90s and joining these forums, aside from helping me with my computer problems, is a nice trip back to those days although the size of this user base is exponentially larger than any I've been a part of. ergo the 'fitting in' process takes longer.

No, not really. There will always be someone that gives the -1/10 rating or the DI.AF post to signify it as a parody thread.

Most parody threads suck so badly that it seems obvious that they must be a parody thread.

it's like the double-mirror effect... the never ending tunnel of reflection..

i'm going to re-read this thread listening to Dark Side of the Moon.
