we would be fired immediately and escorted out (probably with guns). no alcohol within 5 hours of coming to work and still gotta be below 0.04 by then.

No, and it's illegal (not against the rules, illegal) to drink alcohol less than 8 hours prior to my shift.

Should have read this before voting. That's more like getting off a little early and having a drink with the boss.

That . . . has happened before.

I thought you were asking if I was yet enough of an alcoholic to stash vodka in my desk drawer.

this thread reminds me of the office episode where it is valentine's day and meredith doesn't get any presents and passes out at her desk after drinking gin and tonic all day.

Fiscal year-end (pizza and beer day) and the annual Christmas lunch (in office and separate from the Christmas party, which is a drunkfest).

That's drinking after work. Totally different question. I work at a school, pre-K through 12th, so we're not allowed to have alcohol anywhere on campus (even in a locked car) except in very rare instances when there is a special event held (in which case, it's after school hours and special steps are taken to make sure the children aren't exposed, because good Lord, it could warp their fragile little minds to see consumption of alkyhol!).

So no, I don't drink at work.

We have beer in our kitchen right now here at work :)

Only real rule for it is if you are scheduled to deal with firearms on whatever day you can not drink 8 hours prior too work and not until you work is done with the piece, which can be a few hours up to a few days depending.

At my last month at work I just started drinking during my lunch break. Didn't give a FUCK.

At work itself, no.

Getting totally sloshed at business dinners/functions after official work hours is however acceptable (encouraged even).

Only on a handful of occasions during lunchtime. Had a double of Turkey my last day at my former emplyer, and recently had 2 shots of Huerradura for the hell of it. No one was the wiser (at least i dont think so) but I find little work gets done once I'm buzzin.

When we go out for christmas lunch, a few glass of sangria to get the buzz going.

We do wine tastings every friday around 3:30PM in the conference room. I go every once in a while.

Hooray for working for a booze company!

At least once a week someone at work has a happy hour with beer, as long as it's after 4:00 we are good to go.

We just have to remember the Beer Rules:

1) Use good judgement
2) Beer Rules

I worked as a furniture manager at a Big Lots in the early '00s, and used to keep a 64oz big gulp cup filled with half everclear, half sprite. Tasted horrible, but it got me through the days. I sweated alcohol for a while, was drinking first thing in the morning, all through the day, until I blacked out in the evenings. Rinse/repeat.

I've been drunk at the christmas party and we had champagne a couple weeks ago to celebrate getting a major investor, but we can't really do the whole "drinks every friday" thing since every department in my company except IT and the suits (sales, PM, HR) operates on a 24/7/365 basis... and even if we did, I've got very few coworkers that I'd actually want to spend time with outside of what's necessary to do my job

I don't drink at all so I don't know how to answer the poll since I am no health freak.
