At least online. Some of you here cultivate it, very obviously. You say you don't care, and that is an inarguable truth, but beyond caring you must enjoy it since you go out of your way to breed dislike in people. What is it that you enjoy about being disliked on the net?
 
Frankly, I don't give a sh!t what anyone else thinks.

I've got better things to do than worry about it.
 
I don't care either way whether I'm liked or disliked on the internet or in real life HotChic 🙂
 
Like I said though, it's more than not caring because some people go really far out of their way to delightedly irritate other folks on the internet. Fun to watch. 🙂 What's the source of enjoyment on being the disliked though?
 
It's a compensation mechanism. They are so dull in real life it gives them a rush to know they can get a reaction out of people somewhere. It makes them feel special. Even though they're not.
 
I don't know if I enjoy being disliked but I know that I generally have an opinion that is opposite the "popular" online view...for example if everyone is on an anti Intel rant I am usually pro Intel, if everyone loves Japanese cars and Nissan I generally hate them...etc etc etc, don't know why but I just have a tendency to go against the grain when my likes and dislikes....
 
I'm finding it amusing to see who thinks this question applies to them. I never would have thought of minendo as hugely disliked. 🙂

Interesting topic. 🙂 I think the universal answer is some people crave attention in a pure form - positive or negative, it doesn't matter. So while they may not enjoy the dislike generated, the necessary attention paid to them makes it worth continuing.

I just opened up a second question though, maybe a psych major can answer this one: Is it normal for a human being to crave being liked (a type of peer acceptance)? Or is being liked/disliked neutral to the human brain?

Unless you want an answer based on a limited group of the population. Then that answer based on less than 0.0000001% being used to generalize human behavior.

I think the source is probably in the sense of empowerment it gives people. I'd bet that most of the people here (and all over the web) that seem to thrive on being a-holes are probably as demure as they come. the anonymity that the web provides shields them, gives them the courage they lack in real life.

Look up Maslow's Heirarchy of Needs; esteem is second from the top just under self-actualization. According to Maslow, it is indeed normal for people to crave being liked. We all want acceptance on some level.

When this forum went to hell a few years ago, with all the nef type crap, all the bitching in the world wouldn't make them go away, or get the mods to police it. So, you either pack up and leave, like many did, or stay, and make the nef's net lives miserable.

I now find ATOT a good place to rant. Occasionally, there is a good thread or two to participate in as well...
 
I am a bit of a loner in real time.It's not that I don't like people but rather that after expending mega energy dealing with them at work often leaves me a bit drainedThat said I'm old enough to know that not everybody is going to like me and that doesn't make me or them bad people,just different.What I do dislike however is confrontation and ugly,circular conflicts that never get resolved.
