Frustrated people find it easier to master being hated than being liked, and so they choose it because it gives them a false sense of control over their lives. Anybody can be an asshole, but it takes more talent to be well liked.

I definitely don't like being disliked by people I respect on the internet. Idiots, though, are another matter.

Fortunately, this means pretty much all of AT is safe (seriously) ;)

It's the MSN people with their 'u' and 'wassup????????' that are fun to toy with.

yup..people show emotion in them, even if the emotion is hate.

to some people, having someone hate you is better than if noone cared if you live or die. at least they are thinking about you...

I just opened up a second question though, maybe a psych major can answer this one: Is it normal for a human being to crave being liked (a type of peer acceptance)? Or is being liked/disliked neutral to the human brain?

humans are social animals. they want to be part of a group. and thanks to the internet, that group can be ATOT.

hm..i wonder how loners coped before the internet? like before 1980's?

If they enjoy it, they care. Enjoying is an act of caring. If they enjoy it, then they can't care in a negative way, but they absolutely must care in a positive way.

Just because it's a popular theory doesn't make it correct. I'm not saying that Maslow is wrong, just that it's not correct to claim his hypotheses as laws.

I rarely subscribe to threads here, don't read others posts and don't read what others say about my posts (most of the time.)

I don't think I'm disliked but my offline life is enjoyable enough that I wouldn't care anywayz.

Enjoy it?

Nah, just like in real life, you get used to it after a few beatings. :(

I've got better things to do than worry about it.

i enjoy being disliked in real life, maybe its just where i live, but i cant stand pretty much any of the people here short of my wife and kids...

and they cant stand me

so it works out rather well. i dont get near them if i can help it, and nobody gets near me.
