A couple of years ago I bought the AVS suite and used to use it for all kinds of stuff. Until I found out that the license is "per computer". Meaning, when you upgrade your computer you will need to buy another license.

I used to recommend the AVS4you suite, but not anymore.

Now, I use windows movie maker live for all of my video editing needs.

Yeah Im not crazy about that one license per CPU thing either. Oh well.

when I had time to do so, I frequently used Premiere Pro. One of those programs though that if you don't use for a year, it's a pain in the ass to re-learn.

The older you get the more you realize how valuable time is. It can be spent so many ways.

You should be able to do that with Premier Pro. I use After effects for green screen work

People mentioned Premiere Pro and this is the first time Ive heard of After Efffects. I might check into that eventually sticking to low cost solutions to keep it affordable.

I'm freelance, gotta pay for it myself :(

Hopefully you have or are writing off the $999 price tag on your Schedule C.

I use premier and sometimes pinnacle. Isn't there a script you can use in the avs file to play in reverse? I think you just pass the command start and end time, and it will reverse it. Regarding the aspect ratios, I've always done that myself in the avs file because a lot of times you don't get what you want.

Doom9's page has a ton of info on avs editing if you want to manually do things.

As mentioned above I do use the AviSynth script for reverse in VDub. I forgot all about Doom9 btw. I think the last time I stopped by I was overwhelmed by information overload.

good thread!

I always think about how much drive space I could be saving if I edited all my porn movies to cut out the bad scenes.

I use Vegas Movie Studio 10 now. Once I figured out resolution and aspect crap, then encoding...I have nothing really complex I've done online (did a huge family DVD though) but I'll show whats on Youtube.

This is embarrassingly simple work here lol (just cuts & fades):

ILS Approach and touch & go @ KLAF
Whipple Econoline - Dyno run at UNOH

Before I got the aspect crap down:
1988 Corvette C4 - 1/4mi at IRP

Good vids. What aspect/size do you use and codec?

Do you have a pilots license? When I rented a plane once for a joyride we did a couple of touch and goes at different airports after flying over the lake, downtown and my home. The pilot was trying to convince me to spend $2k to get a lincense....back in '95.

Did I forget to mention we almost had a mid air collision that day? I have another thread about it.

I edit and render in 1080p and encode H.264.

I can't qualify for an FAA medical rating so I cant be pilot in command anymore but I've been flying for years. When I fly, I take a friend or my brother along.

I do own a Piper Cherokee Six.

2k would be a dream nowadays. $5k+

I mainly used Pinnacle Studio. I've tried iMovie and Adobe Premiere in the past, and they are definitely great tools. But for my use, Pinnacle Studio's features are sufficient. The only thing that I don't like about it is that the video track is only limited to 2.

Here's a sample edit that I did on Pinnacle Studio:
