I'm an auto fan, but currently own a stick. 4 banger + regular mountain climbs of 4000+ feet + auto = gutless wonder.

At least with a stick I can lock it in third and run with it. It was also $1000 cheaper at the time of purchase and had one of the best feeling clutch/gearboxes that I've used so it just made sense.
