Just happened to come by this on my search for Car Donation threads.

I wouldn't give a damn cent to CMU. $35k a year for 5 years, please. I'll probably give money to my fraternity, but the school, fvck that. Freshman year in the middle of class some administration people came in telling us how our $35k doesn't cover everything, the real cost is somewhere about $100k per student and that we were all lucky that alumn donate money to help pay for the education. What bullsh!t, every week or so they call my parents asking for money, hell they even call me to ask for money. WTF? I think my money would be better spent at my local high school. At least I was treated as a student there, at CMU it's like you are some sort of product, they try to take as much out of you as they can before you leave, then ask for more when you are gone. I deal with the administration daily and I hate the front they put on... honestly they can say it as much as they want, but they don't give a damn about the students. All they care about is the school reputation, 'diversity' and other numbers that makes the school look good. Man this thread got me all worked up...

I got a department merit scholarship two years in a row as an undergrad, so now that I have a decent job I've given money specifically to that scholarship fund. Back when I was there it was only awarded to 1 student a year, but thanks to people like me they can now fund 2 a year.
