I don't curse in general. I got out of the habit a few years ago...

Yes, yes, and yes. If you've ever worked with Xerox equipment, you'd understand it's standard operating procedure. :)

oh yeah, I swear all the time at work, even at my managers. My current line for my boss is "doughnut stealing bastard" as he stole a chocolate doughnut from me last week

Golly gee, I wouldn't dream of using foul language. Except if: I'm doing tech work, or endless-hold with one supplier or another, or it's another damned telemarketer interrupting some delicate operation, or I'm programming and it doesn't QUITE work the way I want it to, or some stupid client has accidentally reformatted his hard drive again, or -

I worked a couple summer jobs, one at an engineering firm and another at an internet startup.

At the engineering firm, people cursed all the time, but not at one another. Usually the cursing was dirrected at 3rd party hardware or software that wasn't performing up to specification.

At the internet startup, my boss cursed all the time and belittled certain employees on occasion. Needless to say, by the end of the summer, the employees were all leaving or planning to leave.

As long as you keep it to a reasonable level, and around coworkers only (ie: w/in your dept.) it's generally okay. Doing it around customers and in interdepartment meetings is bad form unless you have a damned good reason.

I dont think it's professional either, but what to do if your boss use foul language to you in not a good way?

(I hope I got the quote right)
