I have never stopped by AGN boards. However, AGN/VoodooExtreme (the good ole crews) were the two sites that i used to visit everyday.

My fondest memory of AGN was when someone(forgot who) o'ced his Celeron 300A to somewhere near the 500MHz :Q But then again, he did the o'cing outside which was near or below zero.

I also won the contest for Asheron's Call closed beta contest on AGN.....remembered i refreshed the main page like crazy for the link :)

AGN3D was da bomb!

Lots of us had the 300a @ 504, 450 was a gimmie and 464 was using icing on the cake.

While never a trader at AGN, I was a regular in the OT and Video forums.

It was actually Brett "Three Fingers" Jacob's 3dfx/quake forum that got me hooked to AGN sometime in '97, bigtime.

I miss the 'ole days at AGN, regardless of the flames (nothing compared to this place, LOL) it seemed that most respected each other over there.

Anyone wishing for an update regarding Jeremy can visit his website.

Gots ta see HELLO to everyone...so...HELLO!!!

AGN was definitely THE place to be, it's a shame what happened to it.

One of the things I also remember was constantly getting beat out by golfreak himself for anything and everything worthwhile - it was almost like you couldn't believe that you 'might' be the first one to reply if you had the chance...wish I would've had DSL and a schedule of his sleeping habits back then (you know, the 2-3 minutes of z's that he took in between hours of watching the board like a hawk;)).

I have to disagree with some and I have to say that PCA is still a place where they know who you are and still has that familiar feeling. I'm not sure if anything will feel exactly like it, but can you ever really do that anyway?

Glad to see many are still around, and Sepen; you never really told me if you liked that HP lappy I sold you a while back - do you still need that cable?

<< BigDee.....Go to PCA.....look under the Off Topic and you'll see why Todd was banned.
I still remembered you traded your TNT2 to me cause I got a hold of one of those cute toy from MickeyD's for your girlfriend.

Back then before Heatware....I used to keep track of every deal in WORDS so I can use it for reference.
And then from time to time I would list the big-ole list of GOOD TRADERS.
I know we all did it cause we didn't have anything to use for reference.
Ahh...back in the old days......less trolls.

Question...who was that one guy that was an awesome trader.
Everytime he listed something for sale...it would be for dirt cheap.
And he used to give away stuff from time to time too.
And lastly, he was the only "super" trader that defended Puto....he was the only one we know of that was still trading with Puto.
>>

Are you perhaps thinking of Naftets ?

Totally awesome trader I got my antec tower and my 21 inch Hitachi monitor from him !!!!

*raises a glass*

AGN3D rocked. period.

Anandtech is nice enough but I've never felt the same kind of tight-knit community we had back at AGN.

Anyone else care to rattle off any other names of memorable AGN'ers? I met up with Deanjen and Jakel and they were both pretty cool guys. Amnesiac too (I forget his old AGN3D handle...I think it was grizzy or something). Kept doing deals with grizzy just because he lived so close by :)

[edit]

oh yeah...my fond memories (besides having to do that damned [edit] [/edit] thing every time i edited my messages)

golfreak always snatching up the best deals within seconds! i swear, even if it was a good deal that someone slipped under everyone's radars, he'd snatch it up right before i clicked the reply button. damn you golfreak! :D

look at all these ancient people crowding into one thread :)
AGN, only site that you were completely at ease at.
No worries about trolls after puto and the way UberNeuman wrote those stories.
PCA is much along those lines.

Excellent to see all the smiling people crammed in here.
Hope 2002 treats you all well

AGN, where you could reply to a flame with scrolling flashing text and an embedded .wav. Where you could lay the verbal smack-foo down on a friend and then trade him your sticks of memory for his TV Tuner. Where you could post a pic with nipple in it and get away with it. Where you could get in on a mass Everglide buying plot. AGN, where you could have a virtual beer with DocSilly dicussing case mods, while begging Saturn to mod your mobo for you over ICQ.

Ther used to be a time when you could cross ship with a newbie...

I sure miss the old board, wonder if there will ever be another like it?

Damm, Gordon, thats a good one....having to do that [/edit] crap with the old board.

Yup I do remembered DocSilly in the general section...always helping out.
And Saturn being one of the mod there....and also one of the first to ever mod those slot1 AMD for us.

Seeing more familiar names popping in here.

Wow, lots of familiar names in here. :)

Most of you lot probably don't remember me as I mostly lurked, but I first joined AGN back in '98 sometime. Anyway it's good to see that everyone is still about somewhere or other.

In the beginning there was only three forums for me- AT, AGN and HHT.

PCA looks interesting, I'll see you over there pretty soon if I may.

Gosh....reading thru some of these posts really brings back alot of memories. I have traded with just about everyone on this page and I can tell ya, there WERE no finer group of people than those from Agn :) Nick Caputo......I remember offering him such a great deal one time, that I made him give me his phone number to verify. I called and spoke with his Mother and when I started telling her what "Lil Nicky" had been up to, she started smacking him upside the head while on the phone. That cracked me up bigtime. And then you had Uber's "Hoy" pages, the one that I remember most would be Puto as Tatoo from Fantasy Island....LOL! I can honestly say one thing about Agn, the peeps that I met there will always rate #1 in my book. Glad to see ya guys :)

Btw,
Golfreak, my first heatware eval. was from you for a $600+ system for my friend, he still has it in "almost" it's original configuration and is still happy as hell with it. Now, is that a testament to a fine system builder, or what? :)

LOL, I think I'm about as good of a system builder as the 12 year old kid next door.
Pure luck it lasted this long......its been what ? 3 years ?

Hardtech poped in PCA a little while back.
amnesiac, last time I saw him was on Anand a while back
EMO did stopped in and said HI also.
RacerX did PM me once to say HI.
MURRAY does sneak in and say hi sometimes

After Josh"the dude" was let go from AGN, anyone seen him?
The infamous Airman......no where to be found, huh ?
