you don't get arthritis by cracking your fingers. it actually improves the dexterity of your fingers by cracking them.

Over the years I've got into the habit of clicking my fingers a lot, and now my right middle finger is starting to hurt on the top joint. :Q

Arthritis here I come. Sigh.

I could be wrong, but I believe the whole "cracking your joints will give your arthritis" tale doesn't have much in the way of empirical support. That is, unless you greatly and repeatedly stress the joints while doing said cracking, in which case I could see how that would lead to some sort of injury.

exactly correct.

, mine do that too.

I sound like a creaky door when I squat, my knees crack and pop all the way up, then all the way back down.

I do crack my knuckles a lot, and my arms and legs crack a lot too.

If I get down to do a pushup or something my elbows crack going down and up for a couple times.

depends on your definition of "a lot".

Every hour. :Q

J/K. I guess once every two days on average, I dunno.

every two days on average, then yes, i guess i do crack them a lot.

I probably click mine at least once a day.

maybe once a day...probably less if it's all averaged out though.

Will that have an effect on my joints later in life? probably. Do i care? nope. I don't expect to live past 60 or so anyway.

I crack all the joints in my hands several times a day. My toes I crack at least every couple of minutes when I am not wearing shoes.

I crack all of the joint on my hands several times a day. And my toes. And my right knee. And my right shoulder. And my neck. And sometimes my back if I have the proper type of chair.

Used to a lot when I was younger. I've seemed to have grown out of it though as I can't really remember the last time I did.

I crack pretty much every crackable joint, as often as possible, I even used to crack my left bottom rib but broke the habit. I'm trying to stop so I don't mess up my joints, but it's harder than smoking to actually kick, you don't even need to buy the pack of cigs and you've relapsed in a matter of seconds or less 🙁

I crack my fingers, wrists, neck and back often. Various injuries make it so that I am a bit uncomfortable if I don't relieve that pressure.

I crack my ankles, feet, toes, most every joint on my finger fingers, wrists, base of my thumb, neck, lower-to-mid back, knees, elbow almost every other hour or so.

Upon reading this thread, I want on a cracking rampage attempting to crack everything i've mentioned.

Sorry, but what exactly does that link prove?

You'll notice that in the list of causes of osteoarthritis (there are other types of arthritis mind you) that cracking/popping your knuckles isn't one of them. However, obesity is listed as one of the major causes. Really, I was just trying to give the link to eating a cheese burger and arthritis, nothing more.

Yeah I do. It annoys some people at work but I can't help it. I can crack each finger 4-5 times at different knuckles and in different positions and I can feel pressure building up over time so I have to crack them again.

I crack most everything and have done so since I was a pre-teen: fingers, toes, neck, back, ankles... Apparently, I even crack my knuckles in my sleep.

I even crack one of my knees, but I know that will come back to haunt me. As for the other joints, I have read articles that say it causes problems and others that say it prevents problems.

I crack my toes all the time. My big toes click on their own when I walk barefoot. It's weird- click click click click.

Yeah, my feet and ankles crack when I walk barefoot. That's why I got kicked out of Ninja school.
