You know, where you ask for a water at the counter of a fastfood place, then secretly get some coke instead?

If I want coke I just buy it. However, I've tended to get water lately cuz the acid probably doesn't help my stomach.

That's just super lame.

Yeah, when you steal Coke, they're not out much money, but when you buy, are you out much either?

If so, maybe you should be home eating Mac and Cheese and a baked potato instead.

(I usually prefer water anyway. I drink from a half gallon to a gallon every day.)

so you dont drink the pop mixed from syrup and tap water too?

I try to bring my own water with me as much as possible.

If I can't, then I get coke... at least the sugar covers up the taste of the water! :p

There's no tap water in fountain drinks. It's mixed syrup and carbonated water, both of which come pre-packaged from the distributor.

And no, I don't break the "water rule." That would be stealing. And pretty pathetic to boot.

No. Fountain drinks are mixed with local tap water. The CO2 comes in the form of compressed gas from a local CO2 producer/distributor, and the syrup is the only thing that the pop companies supply.

(Have you ever wondered why every busy fast food place doesn't have its own freaking water tower on the roof?)

EDIT: oops! I meant to edit my last post, not quote myself.

most places have CO2 canisters to mix with the local water source and the syrup, i dont think i have ever seen carbonated water shipped along with the cola syrup

No, that's pretty cheap. Besides, you usually get a small cup if you ask for water, so the fast food place wouldn't be out much anyway if you tried to stiff them on a drink.
