Probably will join the Oregon Society of CPAs and the California Society of CPAs if I spend more time there in the future.

A bit off topic but what exactly what do you do in these? Im thinking of becoming a CPA in the next year or two.

I'm required to be a member of the AICPA as I work for a Big 4 public accounting firm, firm policy. I don't have much involvement in the AICPA otherwise. I am an active member of the WSCPA and participate in the Taxation Committee and the State Tax Subcommittee. I've spoken at one of their events last year, am hoping to speak again this coming year. It's a great way to network professionally and get your name out in the (relatively small) community.

If I joined the CSCPA and/or OSCPA, I would do the same thing as in the WSCPA, would try and get involved in their Taxation subcommittees and network a bit, great way to learn random things you'd never see in your ordinary course of business.
