My take on whether aliens have visited us is this. Time travel is existant in the future. The people of the future visit the past to see what the world used to be like. It's like the history channel of the year 3000. They get into their "flying saucers" and "visit" us at a safe distance. If they are spotted, as seen in many ufo footage, they suddenly disappear - go back to their present time.

This hypothesis is my own, I didn't hear it from anywhere else, I have always thought this from the first time I heard about UFOs and Aliens.

I like that hypothesis very much, actually. Very nice.

The only reason I brought up the religion angle is because they (the religious folk) tend to think that they are it. It's hard for them to grasp just how big and nearly infinite the universe is. Not to start a flame war...I just think it would be nice if we actually had PROOF of something, that maybe then all humans could actually be on the same page.

Exactly.. the biblethumper brought it up first.. which is usually the case.. I mearly put his ass back in his place...

Biblethumper haha thats good. Seriously thats actually pretty funny. And for all of you "closed minded" people out there, there is a difference between "Religious" people and "Christian" people. And as far as the infinite universe. Its mind boggling to think about it. Its huge. very big. But aliens, exist nowhere in it.

oooooh....heres a :cookie: for the big man! antyler didnt bring up religion until he was asked why he believed there wasnt aliens. he didnt come in thumping his bible or screaming a sermon.....

to answer the op: it wouldnt surprise me at all if other civs had, and still do, visit our planet. i doubt we can conceive of the technology available to a civ that has a billion year head start on us, so distances, etc. may not be an issue for them at all. i wouldnt worry about them destroying or enslaving us, if they are coming here. they wouldve already done that when we were weaker. just as we observe other "lesser" forms of intelligence on our own planet to learn more of our world, so too would an alien civ view us, imo.

qft thank you.

Lol only on ATOT would someone turn a perfectly legitimate thread into a religious battle 😛

Flying saucers do exist. They were being built in Germany during WWII.

pilots flying missions during WW2 reported seeing "flying saucers" and other very strange very brightly lit aircraft that would pace their planes and they were way more technologically advanced than any aircraft america and germany had at the time. yea the germans had plans for saucer shaped aircraft but none of the prototypes they built made it off the ground really.

I think there's a good chance of life existing elsewhere in this huge, huge universe, possibly a lot of it, some possibly sentient... and a possibility they've visited.... but we simply don't know, and without lack of evidence I'll lean toward no.

yep.

faith's such a funny thing... if you can believe in stories from 2000 years ago, why can't you believe that there is other life out there?

if you have faith in the bible and in god, you're a christian, if you have faith that aliens have visited earth, you're a nutjob

i personally believe in god, but i can't believe that a god that would build this infinite universe could possibly put life on one and only one planet.. i don't remember exactly what it says in the bible about us being the only ones, but maybe we're the only ones in this form.. maybe the others are giant snakes, or huge crickets... i just can't believe that there's no other life out there.. that would make me feel sad and lonely... i highly doubt that god would waste so much space and be so inefficient

I think yes or maybe humans from 2m years from now but I am not sure the human race will be around that long let alone a few hundred years.

Exactly...

our baby thumper up there said that we havent found them in 5000 years... well who says we havent?
you do know that Project Bluebook an Official US Air Force investgation is still top secret even after being so called declassified... what they released was so blacked out and edited it means nothing...
There are litterally 1000s of siteings per year even by Military pilots of things they cannot explain...
do you really think all these 100s of 1000s of people that have seen things over the past 5000 years are all wrong?
do you really think the US Government would waste trillions of dollars on a program to investigate and then lable the findings TOP SECRET if they ddint find something they dont want the public to know?

please.. get over yourself.. 5000 years is a drop of sand in the scale of time in this cosmos...

by the way you asked why we havent found anything on other planets in OUR solar system yet?
well #1 is becsaue we KNOW NOTHING ABOUT IT YET... the farthest we have been manned is the moon.. and the moon has no atmosphere or water to sustain life...
mars is next.. maybe sometime within the next 300 years we will have visted at least in orbit all the planets in our solar system... but remeber this ... our solar system is 1 outa billions.... ONE.. we can barely see out of our own system yet... we have no idea whats out there...

Aren't you the same person who asked someone who works at area51 to take pictures of some aliens flying around for you?

I believe that man must be pretty nieve and full of himself to believe that we are it

Yep, and I would love for us to be visited by aliens just for the fact that it would finally make all of the religous nuts in the world shut the fcuk up. Well, not even that would do it...but maybe it would make them quiet down a bit.

When aliens visit the earth i will let you punch me in the face and then rub the truth all over me. Care not do I.

When God visits earth, you can do the same to me.

i also believe they exist but have not visited.. simply because most other planets are so far away that unless they know super-speedy (10x speed of light) travel methods, it would take them past there probable life span to reach us.
Worm holes.

Any alien civilization that could manipulate singularity and be able to bend space-time would probably view us more as ants or primitive creatures that aren't worth their time.

I disagree. They'd know that we are splitting atoms and starting to travel through space. We have reached the point in evolution where evolution stops and the only form of advancement is technological. The same probably happened to them and they'd know it.

Yes i do believe the government would waste trillions of dollars. Haha thats like a question that doesnt even need to be asked. They are what four trillion dollars in debt, and I highly doubt its from doing alien research. Thats just to hokie, there will never be any alien life found on other planets. If any life does exist elsewhere, it would be like an insect or something, but we dont even have to worry about that, because the earth is the only planet, and will always be for that matter, that has life on it.

With this talk about area 51, I found something very interesting. Try looking it up on Google Earth. It is there. Just type in Area 51 and you will find it.

Absolutely

My conspiracy theory:

If Aliens showed up out in the open now the world would freak out and either A: Attack them B: Attack ourselves or C: All of the above.

Now what would happen if we discovered them first. Then it becomes a discovery to be celebrated.

So I'm guessing the big push to get to Mars ASAP is so that we can "discover" aliens who have already been visiting Earth and more then likely have communicated (for a long time) with an unnamed goverment (wink, wink). This way it will be a peaceful meeting instead of a big f#ckin panic.

A. We've already done B.
and B. There is no life on Mars.
