Do you believe in past lives and reincarnation?

Hell no. There's more evidence to support the existence of leprechauns and Jolly Green Giants than there is to support reincarnation.

I don't rule out the possibility, unlikely as it seems.

That's a fair and reasonable conclusion.

I do believe in reincarnation not so much in the usual sense, but rather what literally makes up the components of our bodies did originate from those that came before us. The molecules that make up your being did come from a long line of people, so in an abstract sense that is how I view reincarnation.

I don't believe in the concept of a soul, and as such I don't think it is likely there is some mysterious "soul" that travels among bodies between a death and a birth.

It does "fit" within the 1st Law of Thermodynamics.
Not really. It's not like "life" is some magical energy that needs to be conserved. It's a bunch of chemicals and electrical impulses, and in our case, many cells, working together to ensure the continuation of those reactions and impulses.

The only conversion that takes place is chemical breakdown when a lifeform dies, caused by natural erosive effects and (primarily) bacteria consuming organic material. The consciousness that is "you" did not exist before your birth, nor does it persist afterward, as it is contained within your brain. If that brain does not exist in the proper working state, then it cannot contain a working consciousness. Simple as that. All this "eternal soul" crap is just a way of trying to say, "I'm never gonna die, nyah nyah nyah!"

Most of your molecules came from things you ate, not from people in the past. (Well ok, those people decayed, and their component materials were likely used by plants at some point in time, and some of them might have found their way back to you, eventually.) 🙂

As in "Ho-ho-ho" Green Giant? I'd like to see whatever evidence you can compile on that.

I've bought products which are quite evidently created by such entities - their images appear right on the packaging. I have also seen them speak on television, and they clearly possess powers far beyond what we know of. Repent!

Given our tiny ass understanding of the universe and the things in it I think it's arrogant to make such conclusive statements.

For those of you that think life in nothing more than a series of pulses and reactions that strive for continuation, what's the difference between a human and a robot (a la the movie A.I.). To me, that definition seems to see no difference between the two and consider them both "alive". If that's the case can you actually "Kill" a robot? Is that ethical? Is there really such a thing as ethics?

Our understanding of the universe is pretty comprehensive. And in this case the law of conservation of energy states you can't get something from nothing. So no majikal ghost is taking you to fairly land when you die.

Can you explain the specific details of how quantum entanglement works to me?

I don't know that I really believe in it, but I always wonder why we like certain things, places, songs, tastes, etc. Seems like reincarnation or some sort of genetic of ancestral memory would make a good explanation.

We're not even fully certain of how everything works within our own bodies and you're claiming a comprehensive understanding of the entire universe and all it's workings.

Ok then...

lol, and isn't most of our current understanding just theory at best?
