Do you all think Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones will make more than Spiderman?

I saw Spiderman opening night. I may see it again, just to spite George Lucas.

I won't be seeing Star Wars.

Does that answer your question?

I liked Spiderman fine...I think Star Wars will get a few people who really want to see the movie but not a whole lot of people will see it...

I seriously doubt EpII makes what spiderman did especially if the reviewers seem to be half right.

I saw Spiderman twice opening week. I'm not a big fan of Star Wars, but I'll probably see it with my friends. I'll bet SWE2 doesn't beat Spiderman

So how much money do you all think Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones will make this weekend? I mean i am sure it will knock Spider Man out of first place. Thats almost a given i guess i would say. But still thats just because its a new movie. How much do u think Spider Man will make this weekend?

Well spiderman did have more screens and theaters it was showing at than Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Too bad spiderman can not make another $100 million plus this weekend. But i know thats just about impossible :(

It's impossibe for EPII to knock out Spiderman. George Lucas has already said so. Better luck next time Chewy!:p:

http://movies.yahoo.com/movies/feature/weekendboxofficea.html
"Star Wars" creator George Lucas already has conceded his film will not break opening-weekend box-office records because it is debuting on about 6,000 theater screens, 1,500 fewer than "Spider-Man."

Lucas sought the highest-quality theaters, with digital sound, for his new "Star Wars" movie, forgoing a shot at a record opening and aiming for longevity.

"I am not a horse. I do not do horse races," Lucas said in an interview last week. "I'm not interested in opening weekends. I'm not interested in setting records. I know that sounds silly, because we've broken so many records and done all that stuff. I'm interested in making movies and telling stories and giving audiences the best possible presentation."

eh, i think it's really weird that spiderman gets handed top priority to Star Wars...weird.

So subtract 1500 theatres from Spider-Man's total sales and pit it against Episode II.

I bet it'll be damn close once you compare the same amount of theatres for both movies for opening weekend. I'm sure EPII will take it world wide though.

if ep2 is even half better than ep1 look out, ep1 made $900 million worlwide $400m US $500m Eurasia/ausi

could top $1 billion by the third installment.

Yes, probably.

Star Wars will have longer legs at the box office I think, especially internationally.

Spider-man was cool and all, but I think it's sad a movie of that caliber broke those records. It was a cool movie that is fun to watch, but nothing special. I have high hopes but low expectations for Star Wars. I'll be seeing it sometime this weekend.

internationally star wars is gonna lambast and smash that spiderman and the upcoming matrix 2 together, all u infidels will then realize the might of the force .

Coming back to spiderman , it was a good movie, it got that bumper opening because it was a long time since a good comic hero's movie was released, im sure the next batman( im no big fan of batman to null any bias here) will either come close or break that record.

i see that a few of the sadistic morons who could be jealous trekkies give messages with bad reviews of star wars, there are quite a few good reviews for AOTC, im gonna have a good time tommorow like everyone else.

I saw both movies on their opening nights. Spider-man was far superior except for special effects. Attack of the Clowns was no better than Phantom Menace, and possible more boring. Look for Spider-man to make more.

I will be extremely shocked if EpII pulls in a $32000 per theater avg over its three day weekend. Sure it'll hit it with four days but I doubt it does a $32000 avg Fri-Sun. Ep1 did 22000 per theater, and *shock* *gasp* EpII sucks just like the other 4... Bad acting, bad dialoge, bad everything...

Spidey has legs, Id expect it to get another $30-40million this weekend, keeping EpII to around $75million for Fri-Sun. but EpII will top it by around $40-50million by the time both go out of the theaters.

Neither of the next Batman will come close to bringing in $50million for a Fri-Sun period, they will be lucky to get $30-40million for an opening, they are also do not have big budgets.

Spidey's record wont be broken this year, it might be broken next year by either of the new Matrix movies.

Spiderman will be the quickest to not only $100million and $200million, but also $300million which it should easily crack by the end of next weekend(May 26).

As Ive said before

EpII ~$440million
Spidey $400million
Harry Potter $350million
Two Towers $330million

etc
etc
etc

Spidey was a good movie, Two Towers will be a good movie, but Im sorry EpII just sucks, as have all the Star Wars.

Oh and Spidey is doing amazingly well in the international markets.
