Cluster munitions fired into civilian areas by definition are inappropriate because they have a very low accuracy to target. The collateral damage is expected when they are used so it would be a definite attack on civilian and 'enemy' targets as well...
We've improved our philosophy a bit since dropping dumb bombs and firing long range artillary on cities since wars began and the means developed.
I have to assume that the use of such weapons indicates that the 'enemy' are all those in the possible area of detonation and that no civilian status exists in the mind of the launching people.
I, therefore, must have a similar view toward return fire. War is hell or hell is where the war is...

Though the Israelis killed hundreds of women and children in the last escalations it was all unintentional. The Israelis are angels.

Yeah you really believe Israel's army is hanging out on the border hoping that Hezbollah will kidnap some soldiers? And then it happens and the whole country is like YAAAAAAAHOOOOO It's a-rab killling time!!!! C'mmon man get real... if you actually spent some time in Israel you would understand how far from the truth that really is.

What about Palestinian civilians who are killed everyday ? Oh wait they are terrorists.

What about them? How many times are they going to turn down peace for war?

Turn down peace ?!! Israel does not seem to comprehend what peace means. They attack Palestinian areas all the time whether there is a peace agreement or not.

That's a start. Cluster artillary shells (not bombs in this case), are nasty stuff, but I'd be more sure about the accuracy of that report if you had some qualified verification.

Without some real confirmation that Israel used cluster munitions, that kind of claim is just international flame bait. It may be true, but nobody should jump to conclusions, let alone actions, without knowing the facts.

I disagree with everyone who thinks they have to put an apostrophe before every freaking "s".

Ok, now this issue is getting ridiculous. The idea of the use of cluster bombs is horrible. Correct me if I am wrong here. A. Israel was attacked, had 2 soldiers kidnapped, then proceeded to get bombed. During this time Israel has responded with bombing back. B. (Hez) fires its missiles from civilian populated areas to maximize collateral damage if there is return fire. Meanwhile they send their missiles into civilian targets i.e. non military ones. C. Israel has for the most part focused its fire into infrastructure, supply lines, and positions of suspected (hez) action. Please correct me if I am wrong in any of those points.

Taking all that into consideration. Israel is right and justified in its actions against (hez). If Lebanan does not want such actions against its civilian areas it should take steps to remove the targets from civilian areas. ie (Hez) patriots/terrorists.

My justification is this. What if Fidal Castro was fed up with the sugar embargo and decided in a fit of anger to start bombing Florida Keys... Would you be happy if the US decided to talk things over with him and not take any action to keep that from happening again?

I think that war is horrible, but unfortunately in this case there is always going to be a reaction to every action. Perhaps not opposite and equal but most definately a reaction.

"Infrastructure" and "supply lines" are better known as "cities" and "roads" in Lebenon. Lobbing hundreds of artillery shells may be "focused", but they are hitting more civilians than anything else. Civilian deaths on the Lebanese side are at least 10x that on the Isreali side I think.

As according to Merriam-Webster Online dictionary
infrastructure

Main Entry: in·fra·struc·ture
Pronunciation: 'in-fr&-"str&k-ch&r, -(")frä-
Function: noun
1 : the underlying foundation or basic framework (as of a system or organization)
2 : the permanent installations required for military purposes
3 : the system of public works of a country, state, or region; also : the resources (as personnel, buildings, or equipment) required for an activity

This does not mean city per se...... What it does refer to is Power Plants, Sewage Treatment, Airports.

Are these installations located in a city? Sometimes.

Is this the kindest approach that Israel could do to try to force the people to take a stand and get rid of the Hezbolla elements. Emphatically no.

With the military wing of Hezbolla hiding out and firing rockets from civilian areas how do you suppose Israel stop this element from killing Israeli civilians.

The loss of lebanese life is tragic in the worst sense, but the lebanese people have to take some responsibility and root out the military element or get out of Dodge if they cannot.

Roads yes are getting bombed along with key bridges. This is done to cut supply lines so that the 100 rockets a day will cease if only through lack of supply.

The civilian areas being hit by Israel is because Hezbolla is there albeit using the civilian population for a shield. If Hezbolla moved to an area away from civilians, the civilians would not be hurt. But using the civilians as a shield and having a larger amount of innocents is meant to galvanize the muslim community against Israel even more.

Also keep in mind the rockets by Hezbolla aren't used to defend their communities against Israeli incursions. They are used specifically against civilian populations, not at military installations or encampments.

What would you do to have Hezbolla stop firing rockets at your town?

I'd like to see proof Israel is using cluster bombs in urban areas before I pass judgment. I doubt they are using them in cities, I really do...
