Do you address your step parents as Mom and Dad?

I know this has a lot to do with how old you were when you're parents divorced/remarried. I was already 18 by the time I had step parents so I've been calling them by their first name ever since. My friends who have step parents mostly address then as mom and dad, but they all had those step parents before I had met them.

I'm just kinda curious what most people do. I would just really feel too awkward calling them mom or dad and don't really feel a need to.

What about you?

I call my step-dad (which I've had since I was about 6) and my dad by their first name.

I was forced to call my step mother "mom"... Since I was about 12 or so I referred to her as hey you, her, you there, and any other way to avoid saying mom... once I turned 16 I stepped up to her said you are a complete b|tch and will no longer speak to you directly...

I call my fiance's parents Mom and Dad, since they basically raised me. They love me more than my own parents.

If they raised you wouldn't that make your fiance kinda like your sister? 😕

Well I do live in Tennessee 😉 But really, they raised me from 8th grade until I graduated, and getting to spend so much time with my fiance is what made our relationship grow so strong. There's no blood or legal relation so it's all good 🙂.
