Do x2 cards suffer from microstutter to the same degree as say having 2 4850s in crossfire? Or is it a bit better?

Haven't noticed it from mine at 2560x1600. I'm only playing FEAR and Stalker right now but I'll give you an update with Warhead and Clear Sky when I get around to them.

It would be better because the higher the framerate, the less microstutter is noticeable.

The X2 would have the advantage of not having real stutter based on running out of memory as well.

It would still microstutter at times though.

Thanks...I might consider the 4850x2 then...unless I can get a GTX 280 for a very good price here in Canada.

Hello, fellow Canadian! I'd go for the GTX 260 Core 216 over the GTX 280. It's much cheaper and plenty fast for high-end gaming. I'm saving up for 2 of these for some SLI goodness.:)

Yeah you might be right...I just wish I could use the Maze4 waterblock I have with the 200 series. It fits the 4XXX series no problem apparently which is why I'm leaning towards one of them.

Oh well, we'll see what pops up on boxing day.
