Do we really need the sun?

The sun causes so many bad things like skin cancer, nasty sun burns and much more, it would be so much more benificial if we didn't have the sun, I mean come on. We are America and we could use other forms of light, who agrees with me on this one?

Other forms of light and sources of heat that would spread across the globe, and the other planets in our solar system? No, we don't need it.

It does come in handy every now and again.
There's other sources of light on earth you know?
If this weren't so mind-bogglingly stupid I might have been taken in, but nobody's this moronic. Excellent attempt at a joke though.

yeah, I would really hope no body is this stupid for real, although maybe there is. Without the sun we'd be dead within an hour because the earth would cool so rapidly.

Plants would die out since they cannot carry out photosynthesis...which in turns gives us the oxygen we need to breathe... and the super cooling of the planet part too.

we would all be frozen before then, so dont worry about that. imagine the whole earth being the north pole but colder and much darker
