Do UPS/FedEx ship on Christmas and saturdays?

I don't think anyone actually picks stuff up to ship on Saturdays. Fedex will deliver on Saturdays but you need to be shipping at their top "Next Day" rate PLUS the Saturday delivery surcharge (not a chance on this Sat.)... NOT WORTH IT! Stuff shipped via FedEx Home (a variation on Ground service) is delivered Tuesday thru Sat - but no chance on Christmas. To get stuff in a timely manner around now thru New Year's, you have to time your purchases very accurately and with very good knowledge of the vendor's ability to get stuff out the door (as they are likely working a skeleton crew on Christmas Eve day (today) as almost everyone wants the day off or to get off early) - else you can fageddaboudit...

well I am pissed I paid for overnight fedex ..to be delivered to today..Cal to FL...well stupid fedex went thorough Memphis...and i get a tracking notice..shipment delayed out of our control..BS...they routed it like morons

So I paid for their guaranteed overnight(which is not true around x-mas)..what a waste if I knew this I would have sent it 3 day and gotten it next week and sayed $$$...so no guarantee...I will in the future think twice before using fedex overnight for anything..no longer reliable in my book

I would call your vendor that you bought the parts from and ask for a shipping refund. They in turn can ask Fedex for a refund of the shipping charges. Most places will at least entertain the idea if you paid for one shipping and didn't get it. Just a thought...

I thought a bunch of carriers had their deliveries delayed because of the snow storms around Ohio?

Memphis is the Fedex hub - just about everything that is going by air goes thru Memphis - the weather is not under Fedex control. Get over it.

Yeah, if it's in Memphis, expect a delay. We just had an icestorm and the roads here are virtually unusable. If you do get out you have to drive at like 10-15mph.

Zepper...who asked for your opinion

I have every right to be annoyed paying for a service that was not delivered...

Fedex knew the weather reports...they could have denied overnight shipping so I do not pay extra....or reroute the package...

Believe me if I knew the package was going into Memphis I would have said screw overnight shipping...it was a pure waste of money

So it is ok that they charge but do not deliver...Hmm..can you imagine the extra $$$ people spent on services they were unable to provide

to clear I am not asking for anyone to go out and get hurt delivering my package...I realize weather problems happen but if they are having trouble providing a service...and this storm hit on Wed in the midwest..they could have told their vendors overnight was unlikely to avoid this...

I don't know about FedEx but I work for UPS. As for shipping on Christmas, not a chance. The only thing we have going on is a few pick-ups.

Ironically, I was expecting an overnight package today (a backordered Christmas present got shipped by an e-tailer overnight for me because they said it was in-stock when I ordered it last week). It would have made it if it didn't get grounded in the midwest somewhere because of the airports being shut down Thursday night. Most carriers (including USPS) still deliver on Christmas Eve -- heck, it's probably one of their busiest days, what with all the last-minute presents people order in the week before Christmas.

Short answer to shipping: Christmas Eve = essentially normal delivery. Christmas Day = Nothing, unless someone's life depends on it or you use a courier service. Saturday = Only if you pay a fortune on top of regular delivery rates (I believe it cost me $25 one time for a relatively small package for Saturday delivery).

I guess I lucked out with my Crucial order..

placed my order on the evening of the 22nd, and paid for FedEx overnight..

was shipped out on the 23rd, and arrived at about 1PM PST on the 24th, i guess I just missed the storm.

I'm in the same boat. Ordered from Newegg on the 23rd, it shipped the 23rd with overnight shipping and now its stuck in Memphis. I have become rather annoyed with how Fedex works. I live in St.Louis, my stuff came from CA. Flys all the way to TN and then to STL. Why not just come str8 to STL? They make it seem like they only have one plan and it has to stop everywhere else before getting to your state.

I was going to call Newegg about getting some kind of refund if possible but now there website won't load so I can't get the phone number!

Actually, I work for UPS and, based on what I was told, management and drivers had the possibility of getting on the streets to deliver packages today. (Saturday) It was still being resolved by upper management(region level). Drivers were going to be making double and possibly tripple time today.

For those who do not know, that's some serious cash. (drivers can make between $15 and $31/hour, NORMALLY)

I think it's pretty much the same way at Fedex. Friend of mine is a driver for Fedex, and when I spoke to him yesterday, he said that because of all the delays, he'll be working today. Not entirely sure what kind of schedule this is on, but deliveries today are likely YMMV depending on location.

LOL...this thread gives me a chuckle and any thread asks for an opinion from anyone so I'll give mine:
Fedex will refund anything they Guarantee and do not deliver. If most businesses went off of weather reports they'd be in 1 sad state and to expect something more then packages under a Tree on Christmas is going a little overboard IMO...now excuse me as I run to the store and go buy my Xmas presents

Ok..maybe I am just being really stupid...you can not run a business via weather report....that is true

If you carefully read there guarantee:

under exceptions:

7. The package must not have been tendered for transportation during the 14 calendar days before Christmas if tendered for transportation by any other FedEx Express U.S. domestic service

not sure what exactly this means but sounds like they will not refund the money
