Funny you should say that, but I don't have an enlarged prostate and I'm not diabetic, yet when I turned 45 I suddenly could no longer sleep through the night even if I restricted water intake a couple of hours before bedtime. Yes, getting old is hell.

Not only will an enlarged prostate cause middle of the night urges to wake you, but fewer and or weaker erections while sleeping will do the same.
Getting an erection while sleeping is a defense against urinating while sleeping. This is what causes "morning wood." As your occurrences of "morning wood" decline your need to get up and pee during the night increases.
