My computer is always on, my CRT monitor is set to go to sleep mode after 30 mins. I never switch it off manually, unless I'm going on vacation.

Ditto.

Except I have 3 computer that run 24X7 hooked up to one 21 inch LCD via a KVM ;)

I turn mine of when I'm away from it for more then 10-15 minutes.
Saves energy and also cools down the room :)

You should turn it off, even if you have powersaving options enabled. All the arguments I had against it went out the window when someone mentioned this to me... Is there any amount of power consumption that isn't worth raising your hand and touching a button on the device you are already looking at?

I use an LCD and never turn it off or put it into standby. It's always fully read to go.

I turn my LCD off whenever I leave the computer for an extended period of time.

No, that just puts in in standby 'amber' mode. You only turn off the computer (unless you mean power strip by 'power supply')

Nope. Leave my PC on all the time too. Been on since November now (except during a couple of power outages). PC and monitor both go to sleep mode when not used.

At work, I nevetr turn it off. I just shut down and leave.

At home I have everything in a power strip so after I shut down, I flick the switch and turn off the monitor, speakers, scanner, etc.

Perhaps another argument for turning off your stuff is if there was a electrical surge, at least the equipment is off so there's less likelihood of it frying versus if it was ON.

I let my screensaver turn my monitor off, so technically, I never turn my monitor off.

turn both 19" crts off when i go to sleep or to work in the morning or if i leave for a long period of time...other than that, black screensaver comes up after 10 minutes and "amber" standby mode after 20 minutes.

I have mine set to turn off after a half hour idle, and I always turn it off before I go to sleep.
I'll usually turn it off if I know I'm going somewhere and won't be back for a while, otherwise I just let it turn itself off.

Screensaver after 10mins, then standby after 20mins. If I'm going to be away from the comp for more than about 30mins I'll just turn it (19" CRT in a hot apt.) off.

Hey, if you think 2w is worth quibbling about, fine. I do not.

Many things, even when turned off use 2-5w of "flea power." Your PC does unless you unplug it. Same with your VCR. Same with your cable and sat boxes. Your TV. Your phones, your faxes. Hell, even your printer.

2-5w is inconsequential. And the auto-off/on feature of my monitor is a HELL of a lot better than hitting the button all the time.

Nope.

This old ADI ProVista 15" monitor has almost literally been on 24/7 for the last 5+ years.
