Do those refill pack for ink cartridge really work? What about their qualities?

I tried them when I had my Epson 440, and they ended up clogging up my printer (I had to throw it away). I have talked to some people and they claim it works with out a hitch, but they were using different printers than you and I use.

Also note that on **most** epsons the print head is made into the printer, unlike hp and others, where it is made into the ink cartridge, so regardless of what ink you use remember to clean your print nozzles/head/whatever. I don't know about that particular printer, but epson usually has superior print quality.

I'd be really careful about using refills with Epsons. some of the newer ones (yours would be borderline) have some stupid protection built in where if it senses you've filled the cartridge, it'll jam and then you'll have to send it in for service. I'm not sure the exact models, and this is just what our Epson representative at our store told us, so it could very well be propaganda. Just don't do it if you can't aford to lose the machine.
 
You'll most likely get worse quality even if it works, but they are extremely cheap, and not that bad for black printing. I don't really know about color though.
 
I've tried refilling epson and lexmark carts - neither with success.

I refilled an Epson 740 cart with a major brand refill kit - and followed the instructions to the letter. The cart worked for about 2 pages, then stopped. It had cloggeed the printer, and I had to throw the whole printer away.

The lexmark was a similar story - I refilled a Z51 black cart when it was almost empty. It worked for about 3 days, then stopped. I had to chuck the cart, but the printer was fine.
 
Works great on my Epson 600. I have been refilling for over a year now. Color and black -no problems for me.
 
I've refilled Canon BJ4000, Canon BJ4300 and a HP DJ930C. The common feature of these printers is that the printhead is part of the cartridge instead of the printer itself. I should note that I've only refilled the black cartridges; I've never tried to refill the color ones.

The refilled Canon cartridges printed as sharp as the Canon-branded replacements. The refilled HP, on the other hand, doesn't print quite as sharp as the original cartridge. It's still usable but you can tell if you do a side-by-side comparison. Presumably this is due to differences in the ink formula? Anybody had similar results?

I have had nothing but trouble with my refilled HP printer. The black and white looks like crap, with streaking and splotchiness. Haven't tried color refill yet, but I doubt that it'll be good either.

I hate to say it, but I think I'l just have to find a good price for cartridges on the Net and stock up...
