No, there is no sweet tea north of the mason dixon line. Unless you go to Cracker Barrel.

Edit: I know because I lived in Connecticut for a year. I am addicted to Sweet Tea, having grown up in North Carolina. I almost died my first couple weeks of sweet tea withdrawl.

My friend from Alabama constantly complains about that...no Sweet Tea here in Michigan; not that I've ever had the stuff.

By sweet tea you must mean something other than lipton brisk?

That's why they have sugar packets/lumps.

there's sugar, aspertame, and saccharin on the table so you can make it as sweet as you want.

You cannot add the sugar, it doesn't mix right when it is cold. It has to be sweetened when it is warm!!

Love sweet tea!

Are you talking about ice tea?

I remember when I went to Vegas once that the Ice Tea was not sweetened like it is up here in Canada. I remember some American friends saying that only some parts of the south east had sweetened ice tea. Everywhere else it was non-sweetened :p That was in 95' though.

Cheers,
Aquaman

"Iced Tea is the house wine of the South."

(name the play)

What makes me feel homesick more than anything else is Turkey Dinner with all the fixin's including Sugar pickles eaten with 5 or 6 tall glasses of sweet tea. Reminds me of the old place.

Sweet tea is t3h naasty.

You know how hard it is convincing someone you want "regular" iced tea with no sugar around here?

We've really started to appreciate it being in AL. In the north at least in Canada you can get iced tea, but from my recollection it's crap. I don't know if that's because they make it differently or i just never gave it the time of day, but I never liked it up there.

Yep, grew up in the Dakotas, and have acquired a taste for Sweet Tea living in TX...

Usually, the iced tea up north is made from instant tea, just go to Burger King & try their tea, it seems to be instant & tastes like crap...

I found a Rival iced tea maker (no longer in production) on eBay, & use it quite a bit, the Mr. Coffee tea-makers have too many parts & clean up is a hassle. I find bulk tea & do a custom blend black, green & whatever, tastes like the fancy bottled stuff:D

Which play has that line? I've heard it a couple of times, didn't know it came from a play.

I went out to eat one time in Boston and asked for sweet tea. The waitress looked at me and asked "You're from the South aren't you?". She suggested sweetening it using sugar packs, but I passed.

No sweet tea in NJ/PA. Actually that's not entirely true. Red Hot And Blue, which is a Memphis-style barbecue restaurant, does (DID?) serve sweet tea, but the last time I went , it was just soda fountain tea, so perhaps they dumped the idea, although the menu still claims it's sweet tea :<

I didn't know cracker barrel did, though? I'll have to check that out.

Anyway, it's good once in awhile, but too much of it gets to me. When I was in SC a couple weeks ago, I got my fix and after two glasses I went back to unsweetened :)

I make it myself when it is warm. but I brew the tea without sugar and keep it in the fridge. I make a simple syrup and sweeten it myself. That way everyone can enjoy it cold and have it sweet to their taste.

For those confused, the only thing that dissolves worse in cold tea than granulater sugar is oil.

Give me Louzianne super sweet, or better yet, freshly made sassafras tea.

:cool
