I have some of those can lights (recessed lighting) in my living room, and I don't really use them. They are positioned on either side of the couch, and a pair of speakers mounted in the ceiling instead of the lights would be perfect.

So do they make such a product?

Running the speaker wire would be easy since above the ceiling is attic space, and any rewiring needed I know how to do myself.

I don't know if they make them specifically for recessed fixtures like that, but depending on the diameter you may be able to get a standard 3.5" (or smaller) speaker in there. The only thing you would have to worry about would be mounting them, but that shouldn't be a problem.
