Do they have DBQ's in all states, or just NY?

They are incredably annoying, i'd just assume write a strait out Essay.

Apparently they are to help one examine primary sources (documents) and apply the information from them to a specific topic.

We did that when I was in high school a few years back, basically in preparation for the AP US History exam (I don't remember doing them for any other subject, but I could easily be mistaken).

NY does have that annoying and pointless regents bull sh!t tho, cali is like the ONLY Other state that has it

I went to ny and got my regents and never recall DBQs.

Anyway, this is an AP course, so its probably in prep for that AP exam, but we've had em since like 6th grade. Maybe for other subjects they are reffered to as DATA Based questions? I dunno.

It's pretty easy to get a very good grade on a DBQ compared to writing an essay where you have no sources of information other then your brain. Although you should include some outside information in a DBQ to get a better score.

haven't seen a DBQ essay since AP US history and Euro... 😛

yeah, i guess they are easier to score well but take a longer tyme, b/c ou hafta analyze the Docs.

Im in AP World History, its a fun course but a lot of work. And my Prof has it set up really weird. We covered the first half of the material in the first QUARTER of the year, not wuite sure y, its kinda blew wicked bad, b/c we had to read like 40 pages a noght in the text.

That ewnds friday with the Exam, so i am happy now. 🙂

I know what your feeling. I live in NY and I have to do a couple DBQ's a year. I dont have to take any regents though 😉 School did without them in 2001.
 
It's Document Based Question and they are the easiest things ever. I honestly can't recall making below a 9 on one, maybe 1-2 times I got an 8 but they were so easy, IMO. They were definitely better than the open ended essays which didn't give you any documents/evidence.

Do they have English in New York, or just the rest of the country? (I gave you credit for opther and soemthin assuming they were typos.)

I've never heard the term DBQ outside of AT, but I'm sure I've answered questions based on documents before.

the NYS Regents program is basically the normal HS classes and such, in NYS you are REQUIRED to take like 3 years of a language 4 years of English, 3 math 3 science... in order to graduate with a regents diploma, if you don't do that you get the idiot diploma, this sh!t really isn't hard so if you fail it your a moron

it also makes every public school in NY teach just about the same damn thing because at the end of each 1/2 year you have regents exams, all the schools take them on the same day at the same time, and they are all the same,, happens again in the spring, and this is why i graduated on June 23rd, i had a regents final on the 21st, it was physics, 100 question multiple choice, and so you realize how stupid this is, we rounded gravity to 10m/s/s because "it was easier to calculate that way"

the reasoning is its supposed to be better. make people smarter and BS, truth is its pure crap and people end up not learning anything in HS

i think private schools don't have them, 5 years ago when I was in HS they told us Cali had them also, that might have changed
