Do these sound like the same problems you guys are having with your SB Live! cards and win2k?

After installing win2k, I noticed two strange things happening with my sound. First, when I play mp3s in winamp there is a skipping sound when a song is first started and I've noticed that there is also skipping when I have other things open. Second, sometimes when I switch webpages there will be a muffled pop in my speakers even though I have no music whatsoever playing in the background.

i haven't been having those exact same problems, but in some games I'll get a loud buzzing sound, and live!ware works like ass. I'm chalking the game thing up to directX sort of sucking on win2k and the live!ware thing to the creative win2k drivers. if anyone has an insight though it would be great.

I don't know about W2k but I have been having the buzzing noise with my Sound Blaster Live! XGammer 5.1 card in Win98SE! I think it might be a Directx problem also but I am not going to download and install DX8 until DX8.0A comes out! Because I know people that have installed DX8 and it screwed up there computers and they had to redo their computers!

I think I may have figured this one out... I'm getting ready to try it right now... it seems that my live is sharing IRQ 11 with my USB controller... and sure enough, the buzzing gets worse when I move my mouse. I will report shortly.

Hey Mears, I have the EXACT same two problems, but I'm using Windows 98 SE. I get the skipping sound in Winamp, and whenever a web page loads or I move my mouse over a link, I get a very faint but still audible "doot" kind of sound. Most of the time the sounds are too quiet to notice, but when it's late at night and the noise around here has died down, it gets really annoying. Let me know if you figure out a fix.

Thanks,

hey!!!!! me too, exactly the same problemmmmmm...did u fix it, mears?
i think the problem is irq problem, my voodoo5, network card and sblive all in one irq9, i have no idea how to change the irq 🙁 too bad

My sb live skips (very very short sub-1 second skips) in win2k. it's annoying. I wish Creative would hire more than one person to write their drivers, and pay the guy some money or something.

When you own most of the sound card mass market, you could write a decent driver for all your customers.

i dont have any problems with my SBlive in win2k or win 98se.

Well my Sblive doesnt seem to share an IRQ with anything. I wondered how that happened
