Do these games work in Windows 2000?

I can get HL/CS, Q3, UT, Alice and Driver (?) to work but I can't seem to get anything of these to work. Please help

Tony Hawk 2
Rainbow Six
Rainbow Six:Eagle Watch
Rogue Spear
Rogue Spear: Urban Operations
Quake 2
Spec Ops 1
Spec Ops 2
Many others..

Any info would be nice, my setup below is exact except im using a Guillemot 3d Prophet II Gts 64MB instead of Radeon. Thanks

SV

Well it would be nice if you could tell me how to fix them. I have Win2k SP1, the compatibility patch, latest patches for each game, read a few million guides, and no luck so far. Please help.

Somebody besides you then? lol..

What updates for win2k do you have, what SP are you running? You could give me plently of info, setup info, etc.

are you trying to play them in direct3d or opengl?

i have the best luck with nvidia cards in win2k using opengl, its much faster and tends to work better.

probably the most important question about your setup, what version of the nvidia drivers are you using? i run the released 6.31 as it seems to work the best.

weird, you have a top of the line system, this crap
shouldn't happen.

most likely a problem with your vidcard + directx
reinstall drivers and directx?

also, try to run it without overclocking your system.

I haven't had any problem at all with rogue spear games, they were on my drive when I upgraded from 98se and they seem to work fine.. my big problem game right now is DeltaForce: Land Warrior. keeps crashing(locks entire computer) and its driving me nutso..

Unreal Tournament also runs great.

I have directx8, latest patches, SP1, Compatibility fixes, and VIA/microsoft agp fix..

started getting this error when running dxdiag after upgrading to dx8:

Error: Problem getting extra sound info, result code=0x8878000a(the request failed because DirectSound resources, such as the priority level, were already in use by another caller.)

I have tried updating sound drivers and still get that error. any idea what could be causing it?

Im running DX8 and Detonator 3 7.17 (or 19, i forget) and the problem is when I try to play these games, the hard drive acts as if it is going to load them, gives me an hourglass too, then it just stops and never loads them. Wierd, but the games work fine in 98 SE/ME so I would think its the OS. Im not a comp idiot, i very good with computers actually, but I must admit I know nothing about Win2k. If you need more info please ask. Oh ya, I run OpenGL on all games.

Thanks

SV

im running the detonator 6.31 official drivers.. you might try those and see if that helps.. I'm about to download the huge dx8a redist and try that for my problem :-(

Another thing, the games don't run when I don't overclock..I can take my cpu to 900MHz or down to 500MHz and it makes no difference on games...

it could be.. never know.. everything ive tried so far has worked except for DF:Land Warrior.. which is supposed to work.. but something is causing it to lock.. maybe I'll try going to agp 2x in my bios.. not sure if that will help, but im willing to try..

I have been using the Det 3 drivers (the latest from Nvidia) and I have had no problem with any of the games. I would strongly recommend downloading and installing the DET3 drivers.

Rain - Could you send me that Win98 reg file please? It would be greatly appreciated (Evan@UCSD.com)

Shadow - I have the Det 3 right now and I think im going to try out Det 2 because everyone says they are problem free and I've had nothing but problems with games, but when it
s time to work Win 2k is extremely reliable and i absolutely love it.

I would agree with you if you said this about 4 months ago. Nvidia updated thier Det3 drivers, and they now work rock solid for me.
