do the SB Live and Acoustic Edge work in WinXP?

My dad was using a SB Live card in WinXP. However, when he tried to use the AC-3 pass-thru feature, it didnt work (we have midiland 8200s--they have the ADS 2000 decoder). However, analog sound and PCM worked fine. Also, the Audio HQ was not functional.

So, he borrowed a Philips Acoustic Edge from a friend. He installed it (with the lastest drivers from philips' website). However, when you tried to play music/dvds/etc, the sound would pop (for music) and skip (in dvds).

Anyway, now he's back to the Live. He's d/ling a patch (posted 3 days ago), which will hopefully correct the problems with the Live. If not, I may hafta give up my Audigy :Q

With audigies...these things do work in XP, right? (they better, or ill smack creative..hehe)

Note: he connects his speakers thru SPDIF
Note2: For his system specs, look in my rigs, under the dell 4100 series. It's a P3 866.

I know Creative released a driver update (a few months ago) that addressed the SPDIF bug with WindowsXP and the Audigy. However, I'm pretty sure it didn't effect the Live! or Live! 5.1 family cards. In any case, did you try to use the newest drivers?

Hmm...yeah, previously he was using the one they released a few months ago (creative).

He got the newest patch installed...it just f-ed up the system REAL bad. Sound "works", but only if he uses dual speaker mode and no digital out. Other than that, now the DVD drive and the CDRW do NOT detect in device manager.

And we had the latest philips drivers for the acoustic edge.

Arrgg...this is wierd and annoying...*hugs his audigy* must keep...
