do the nvidia system drivers cause problems?

I think that the nvidia system drivers for intel sli edition are causing my unusually long boot time. when im booting, sometimes i would take like 5 min just staring at the blue bar go across the screen. I tred to install the drivers without the ide sw driver. Also windows detects my sata hd as a removable device. is that normal? do u guys think that the nvidia ide sw drivers are causing my issues? Thanks in advance.
