Do the mods here do a good job?

If they're one in the same then he's a rational, compassionate and reasonable person who occassionally sucks. 😉

They are the same one. 😉

They gave me a month's vacation once, so obviously not... 😉

Though sometimes (like the other night), they're veritable paragons of wit.

No, they ban people and give people vacations if they feel like it, not always by the rules. I got a vacation without reason until I emailed them. I generally like OT, but the mods take everything too personally.

I wouldn't be surprised if they give me a vacation for this.

I doubt that.

There's a lot of double standards with the mods. Some things get locked and others are allowed to stay open and it seems this is just a result of who the members are.

This is mainly in this forum and other than that, they do a good job.

As an admin of my own forums (albeit we have 127 members vs AT's 127,643) I can really appreciate the great job my moderators do day in and day out on a volunteer basis.

Considering the AT mods are volunteers and have better things to than locking "Poll: Do you pee in the shower?" threads, I'd say they do an outstanding job.

Of course like all humans they are not perfect and I have had my disagreements with them.

I do have one major rant though, they have only ONCE edited one of my posts with a witty remark that leaves me feeling kinda neglected.

😀

Good thing the mods have time to nef in other people's posts while someone is saying they don't have time to lock all posts that are against the rules.

It's rather telling that 24% of respondents think they don't do a good job. That's not a good approval rating.

I think they do a fine job 🙂

Only locked a few of my FS/FT threads when I first started with AT, but nothing recently 🙂

I respect the mods and all the crap they go through on a daily basis here on AT. Not everyone can be a mod 🙂 Takes a special breed

We-todd-did mod must be on duty, is that the best you can give me?

😀

For volunteering to watch over 106000 or so members and try to keep this place family friendly the do a great job.

Some things get locked/deleted/edited and I am not sure why, but I don't expect a reason because it hasn't happened to me yet.

i think people expect mods to be 100% objective, perfect beings. unfortunately, they're not, and they're volunteers. all things considered, i think they do a better job than on any other forum i've ever been to.

From my past experiences & what I've seen, they are horrible

But we shouldn't bother discussing it, nothing will ever change.

I think the mods do a really good job. I really do like coming to AT because it's about the only place on the net with active, lively discussion but lacks the heavy duty bitter hatred that some places tend to spawn and also ensures that I can go through any thread I want and not wind up with some girl's nekkid breasts in my face. For all of you who complain for precisely that reason, you can go *anywhere* else on the internet for that, and I appreciate that there is this one exception.

[edit] BTW, I really like the fact that the fun mod has apparently returned. 😀

One thing that really bugs me is when they get chatty and edit everyone's post because it's a popularity thing, I think it's moronic for the mods to edit posts and start joking around. In that case, they are not doing their job. Maybe they're trying to look more cool, but I don't want that from a mod, I want them working in the BACKGROUND taking care of things. I don't want them editing peoples post just to be funny.

For example, in Zakath15's signature:
Can I have a mod quote? I'll... do things... to... win your favor.

You mean NEW things to win our favor? The whips and chains thing is getting old.

that's definatley not being a moderator, that's just stupid.

In my opinion of course!
