Do temp. sensitive fans really work?

I would like to replace the stock fans in the Directron 201T i just ordered, and i saw these color temp sensitive fans as a possibility: http://www.heatsinkstore.com/80crysfanthe.html Will these actually be quiet when I want it to be (night), or will it just continue to run at a high noise level due to the higher temps? Or should I go ahead with a reobus and adjust the fans manually? (which of course would mean more cash for me =( ) Suggestions/alternatives? I would like to buy led fans. Thanks.

it really depends on where you place the temperature probe on it. most of the area in your case will stay the same temperature no matter what you're doing so it will just stay at one speed all the time. at least that's what my experience w/ them has proven. i've seen a lot of people who do stuff like stick the probes under the heatsink so that the fan speed changes depending on how hot your CPU is.

i think the better solution if you want to change the speed of your fans over time are the Enermax adjustable fans. They have a little wheel on them that lets you adjust the speed manually. it requires a little more work but if you have easy access to the inside of your case they're excellent.

otherwise just get some low CFM fans like a panaflo. traditionally you don't need very high air movement for case fans.

oh sorry, i just saw that you needed LED fans......hope this helps anyway.

You wont hear a large enough change in sound to make them worth while. Like gambit said, the temperature doesn't really change enough to slow down the fan. There's at least a 10C range from high to low.

I'd say go with the rheobus / baybus / switches.
