Do soldiers' families get compensated if they're KIA

This is just general:

Including burial benefit and standard insurance the family gets less than $10,000.
The wife gets about $800/month until she remarries.
Each kid gets about $250/month until the age of 18.

Great benefit package for the people who protect our freedom, isn't it?

Edit: BTW, when I was in VN in 1968 if I had been killed my family would have received $10,000 death benefit. It's gone down. We really treat our uniformed people well.:disgust:

I think its plenty.. Actually "people" should be in the military if they are "expecting" something out of it.. Its a volunteer system and its worked great so far.

I couldn't figure out what cars had to do with family compensation, then it dawned on me... lol

I didn't volunteer.
Should my family have gotten more than this?

Yes, but not until your ghost quits posting.

The only problems with that are that with the horribly low pay of low-level military people, they cant hardly afford a decent life insurance policy to protect their family. Hell, a luxury like life insurance, a good portion of them are on food stamps.
