Do smokers realize how bad they smell?

She is correct. The truth is smokers just dont care. Which is fine, I choose to not hang out with them indoors.

I used to smoke many many moons ago and I knew how bad it smelled. Mostly because I was the only person to smoke in my family and I had to really hide it to keep from getting in trouble! :D

I guess one of the reasons I was able to quit in my early 20's was because A) no one in my family smokes and B) I was very much a closet smoker.
