When the price of the ghz tbirds really comes down, i am want to replace my current slot a 650 ahtlon with it. However, i heard that they didnt produce them anymore. Does anybody have them in stock??? My mb is an asus k7m and i dont want to upgrade to a new mb just to get the 1ghz processor. Another question too, has anybody gotten the asus k7m fsb to run higher than 110, or 105 for that matter?

i don't beleive there are any. they said something about making them when they were first announced, but scraped it pretty quickly to produce just sockets.

Yes, they exist. If you look on Pricewatch you will find 5 pages of vendors that carry them. They start at 413.00.

I know they exist, my friend bought an HP machine that came with an OEM Asus K7M board and a Slot1 1GHz Tbird.

My system's running at 107Mhz FSB 24/7 with RC5 running. 108FSB sometimes... but not as reliable as 107.

K7M, Slot A Athlon 600@ ~650.

i ran it on my asus k7v also, but would only goto 800 mhz and it needed 1.8 volts to be stable, i think it needs an irongate chipset for it to be nice and stable.

The Thunderbirds over a certain speed (800Mhz I think..but I don't remember the speed off the top of my head) don't like the KX133 chipset. That's why via had to come out with the KT133, it has some minor timing differences.

If you have an AMD750 chipset, Asus K7M, MSi K7Pro, Gigabyte 7IX or 7IXE etc, you'll be fine with a TBird.

I got mine to run at 109. I didn't try above that...I just had to match my friend's 600. :) But I took the cover off my Athlon tonight, so I'll whoop him now

My 800 is a trooper on my Irongate chipset. Thought i would pipe in and let you guys know... In case youre worried, PC100 with Super Bypass is quite fast, and performs notibly against pc133.

I run my Athlon 500@715MHz on a Asus K7m at 110FSB. I have the multiplier set to 650 and the FSB set to 110, the board is stable at that speed except that it won't cold boot at that speed, i set it to 106FSB to boot and then change the FSB to 110 via SoftFSB. I can play games like Q3, GP3 and Starcraft all day, not that i do you understand:).

I can also get the FSB to 112 but not stable at that speed, random crashes/reboots, so i run it at 110.
