ALL inkjet cartridges have a limited shelf life. That shelf life has gotten better over the years, but the problem is that you have NO WAY of knowing how long a cartridge has been sitting on a store shelf or in a warehouse. That shelf life is also affected by the temperature it was stored at). I generally advise my clients NOT to stockpile cartridges - or at most stockpile one of each and no more.
The tanks I get from swiftink.com have expiration dates on them. You can speed degradation by storing at extreme temperatures - cold, stuff can settle out - hot, hydrocarbons in ink can break down.
Both of the boxes I still have (bought a couple months back) are marked 7/2007, but those are both black. Colors may have a shorter shelf-life. Storage temp. range 41-120 deg F marked on the black boxes - colors again may vary.
