All of the above, but my family doesn't have money problems.

What get's awkward is when your girlfriend's family is asking your girlfriend (and as a byproduct, yourself) for money.

That's a certifiable no win scenario.

1. annoy you
2. make you scared to run into them
3. all of the above
4. neither

How can you "heart God" and yet balk at freely disbursing the bounty God has seen fit to give you to God's other children, as God so obviously wants you to?

Praise God and pass the Benjamins, for he who shall giveth freely from his paycheck unto the blighted and accursed, the clueless and Wi-less, shall be as blessed in the afterlife as he is unable to maketh his mortgage payment in a timely manner in this one.

What kind of deadbeats do you have in your family?

A simple "Fuck No...now go bother someone else" should be sufficient and only needed one time.

In my family, if you ask for money it is freely given. However, one day you will be called on to do the person a favour and whatever is asked, you must do.

I dont mind sharing, and I do when I can afford it. The problem is, they think you are now their personal piggy bank. I have one relative in particular who I cant even talk to because he bugs everyone he runs into for money. He doesnt have any shame at all to ask you even if you dont have two dimes to rub together and he knows it.

He always wants people to help him with his business ventures, but he is really paying his living expenses. That is very annoying. The sad thing is Ive known him for 30 years and we stopped talking a couple of years ago because I couldnt take his begging any more.

I only graduated a few years ago and live well beneath my means so most relatives don't think I have much money to throw around.

It's funny, I live beneath my means and don't buy flashy expensive things so I have a decent amount of savings. If I lived paycheck to paycheck and bought more expensive stuff people would assume I had more money and probably would be more likely to ask me to lend them some, even though I'd have quite a bit less available to give. I guess that's another benefit of being very conservative with your personal finances. 😉

That is what I would do if I had the cash for flashy expensive things.

Don't have this problem. No relatives know I'm relatively loaded, and I only associate with people who work hard for their money, so no problem.

Daddy on the otherhand, makes weekly calls to his aunt or something to kiss ass. He think she'll leave him her fortune when she's dead, but she's already given most of it away to someone else. Daddy also has a gambling addiction, so ya...

This has only happened to me a few times so far. I see it happening more in the future when my parent's and my wife's mom reach retirement age. I dread it.
