Do Presidential Inauguration horseshoes...

I have a family member that is in the Ft. Riley Color Gaurd, which will be the only military mounted unit there on the 20th. He was talking about who all get one of the shoes off the horses from it, and the topic came up about selling them. He said that off the commanding officers horse (the white one), each shoe from this inauguration would most likely sell for $1500-2k on something like ebay. He also said that the other shoes would most likely fetch $500ish each.

Is it me or does that seem unrealistic? Sure it's the first half-black president, but selling a horse shoe from his inauguration will net you that much?

If you can lay hands on the one that hit George Bush in the head and caused the brain damage, it's worth MILLIONS! 😀

Like annubis sez, silly people pay good money for all kinds of stupid things. This wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Aren't the horseshoes on a military honor guard horse property of the US Government?

They might be, but they are given out to various people. Each rider gets one from their horse, then the remaining are divided up by the commanding officer IIRC. The white horse's other 3 shoes go to various military brass (base commander is one, but I forget the other two). From there they are given to whoever gets one.

Get one of those Obama plates and put the horse shoe on it and surely it'd be worth double that!

Don't forget to glue an Obama coin to it for maximum value.
