Do PPGA Heatsinks work on FC-PGA CPUs?

I have a GW FDP32 sitting on my Celeron 366 @ 550 right now and I'm going to upgrade to a C2 566 soon. Can I just slap my FDP32 on the C2? Do I need a new clip or something? Or will it not work at all?

And if I do infact need to buy a new HS, what is the best FC-PGA HS?

It has to work. Heatsinks is just a heatsink made for a certain size of cpu and kinds of sockets and mountings. since it is the same socket 370 that the FCPGA has delt with, the heatsink would fit there. No biggie at all.

Don't FCPGA heatsinks have "feet" on the corners so it's more balanced instead of resting solely on the slug? (I'm just guessing, I have yet to use a FCPGA CPU)

PPGA heatsink does NOT work with FCPGA cpu

FCPGA cpu has the core on the TOP of the cpu hence its dimension is different to the PPGA CPU

wat happens is that u will end up having the heatsink too loose on the FCPGA cpu if u use a PPGA heatsink with it

You are wrong.

The CPU slug of a FC-PGA celeron is a lot smaller. If you clip a PPGA heatsink on, the heatsink will not be balanced on the CPU. When it is not balanced, good contact is not made, and you have poor cooling as a result.

I believe Tom over at Plycon has some copper spaces, but I am not sure if he has them anymore.

Basically it will fit but the heatsink will not make good contact.

a heatsink is a heatsink. the socket mounting did not change, but the clips of FCPGA labeled heatsinks did change. the force of the clip has been directed at the area where the core is as to attempt to prevent this unbalance.

either way, the chip is very small, so you may be better off with something to prop the hs "up" such as the feet of the alphas, the dent in intel's retail hs, or your fancy copper shim, etc.
