I mean I use WMP 8.1 and was wondering if others use WMP, and what they like and dont like about it.
Also if not what player do you use and why, and does this other player take up more resources

I mean is winamp that much better

A better question would be, do people not use WMP. I don't know of a good alternative, nor do I think most people.

I use WMP 9, I have had pretty good results with it. Not as choppy as some other programs, no adware/spyware associated with it (unless you count Windows ;) ) so I've been happy.

I use it. I rip my CDs to WMA files and it's a no brainer with WMP. (good thing because I'm a no-brain)

I use the original (and have it registered as default) because most stuff I look at are mpegs and I don't need all the beels and whistles. (I'm kinda of a minimalist.)

But I do like the way WinAmp 5 plays the videos. So I might switch to that.

I use WMP9.
I play video on it but mostly use it to play music.
I use PowerDVD to watch DVDs.
Yeah and I rip some music with it as well.

Media player 9.. I hated the 8.X, but I hated 7.X even worse. 6.4 was the last of the simple :(

I used Winamp 5 because M$ is evil incarnate in a software company.

WMP9 for video and audio CD's - the latter is rare though, as all my CD's get converted to MP3 the instant they get home. For the MP3's then, I use Winamp.
I use the Classic skin for WMP - a fairly minimal interface, that has a stay-on-top function. It's good for watching recorded TV shows (MPEG2) while doing other things, like posting replies in OT.

Media Player Classic (A clone of the original WMP 6.4 but with some neat additional features) -> AVI, ASF, MPG
PowerDVD -> DVDs
iTunes -> Regular music listening
Winamp 2.9x -> For the odd soundfile that I do not want in the iTunes database.

WMP9 is overall a very complete player so I use it for everything I can.

I only have DVD's play with TheaterTek DVD Player but thats all the video players I have installed on my machine.

i use WMP 6.4. Its fast efficient, works with all my codecs, streamlined, and simple. The only thing I don't like about it is that you cant really have a playlist with it.

It's pretty much the only thing that plays video encoded with newer MS video codecs, so yeah, I use it.

You're SURE that's all there is to it? I still use WMP 6.4 but other than that I stay away. LAME rips crush anything else.
