Do people still play Demon Souls online?

Recently sold my old xbox 360 and am debating whether to buy a new Xbox 360 slim or a PS3. One game on the PS3 that has intrigued me is Demon Souls, but I got two questions.

1) is the game too hard? like to the point many have quit playing cause it is not even fun?

2) is the online component still fun or are there not enough players online anymore?

They are coming out with another one also but I think it's going to be for both PS3 and Xbox 360.

I only recently bought it, and it is one of the funnest games I've ever played. I can't comment on the online play too much, other than to say I've been invaded only once, and the fight was 10 minutes of intense fun.

If you're serious about the online play, I think most people dupe and level a character to ~120 specifically to PVP.

Ya the one time I did rent it no one would ever really join my game which was lame. If there were more people that would actually join to work with others it would be 100x more fun IMO.

No one would join your game?

You know YOU are the one who invites people into your game - you can't just wait for them to join it.

(Well, they can invade it...)

Oh I know, I had the stone laid down all the time and I rarely had anyone join.

I loved it for about 30 minutes. I still think it is an amazing game, but I just don't have the patience or skill for it. It's unfortunate really. I hear the new one is going to be even tougher. 🙁

It's extremely difficult. Probably the most Nintendo Hard game on the current-gen consoles. I couldn't enjoy it, even on easy you're going to die eleventy billion times +1, and the game doesn't even tell you where to go or what to do. It doesn't seem like there's any point to what you're doing in the gameworld.

1. There aren't any difficulty settings
2. Only the foolhardy who rush into things and never take a second to stop and think about what they are doing die so often. I only died 20 or so times, iirc.
3. The game tells you where to go and what to do. It tell you to go to 1-1 and kill the boss, which you then do. Then it tells you to go and kill the bosses of all the levels in all 5 worlds. Pretty simple.

It is okay if you were bad at the game and weren't interested enough or didn't like it enough to learn how to play it, but don't make up reasons to dislike it. 😛

I agree. Myself, I'm genuinely bad at it. While I've always had a soft spot for games that required finesse and level memorization, I just have never been good at them.

I have memories of Maximo on PS2 just whipping my butt till I would throw the controller. Let's not even talk about R-Type. As a kid I remember buying Super Empire Strikes Back because I thought the challenge would be fun, but I never got past the first few levels. In short, I suck. But, Demon's Souls was a technical achievement in spite of this.

I wish they would patch in some cheat codes so I could at least experience the later game.

Love this game. I don't play it as much as I used to but when it first came out, invading was a guarantee.

There are still people who play it online. You can see folks playing while you do. They are the ghosts that are running around like you do.

It requires lots of patience. I died about the same, 15-20 times on my first play through.

My elation at beating the Vanguard at the very beginning was something awesome lemme tell ya. Even though you end up getting falcon punched by the Dragon God.

Troll confirmed.
