Do people make Prom too big of a deal?

Martin

Lifer
My proms like a month or more away (I'm not really sure when exactly), but all the girls (including the one I'm going with) are already starting this massive fuss about everything, then my mom wants photos and videos, friends want limos......damn.

I dunno, I just think of it as some time to spend with friends one last time....

Why do people care about high school grad? It's not something challenging, and pretty much is achievable anyone!

Prom is designed for the girls to have at least one chance to wear a pretty dress. The guys have to get a tux to go with it. Limo? I think that's overboard, if you try to make everything too fancy, you won't have as much fun as you would just going as your dressed up selves.

I think it's kinda overhyped. It's never as cool as in the movies, and it's so supervised at our school, it's tough to really go and have fun there. Take for instance, last year, the people I was with and my date.. we stayed for like, 2 hours and then left to a prom party. That's where all the real fun began, IMO. When we all got to escape the tuxes and dresses and have a good time. 🙂

It might be a lil different at other schools though. Our principal and admin staff seems to LIVE for rules and rules alone.

Heh... even reading a thread like this, I'd say people make it too big of a deal... i never cared a tad about it.. meh..

I disliked my school, so it would have sucked large anyways.. never would I go... 😀

mine is on saturday. We got a limo and all the jazz, I hate dances with a passion, i'm trying to plan it so we're actually at the dance for as little as possible. We're gonna cruise around in the limo for a long time (it's got 3 flatscreens, a playstation 2, tons of other stuff) then probably to a movie at my friends house afterwords to get the mack on.

hah...well i duno i went to my Jr prom..but i guess really, just kickin it with friends is about the same funnness....its not really that special unless u have a perm gf/bf to go with i guess....

I went to my Jr. and Sr. prom back in highschool they were both a lot of fun.

In retrospect though, I would skip the limo, very expensive (Sr. Prom my share was $150 for the group I was in) and most of the time not even really that comfortable or worth it.

My GRADE NINE grad is 3 months away and the girls are panicking and buying dresses and all estatic about it. None of the guys are even getting suits. Its just plain stupid.

Prom is completely overrated. However, my date and I had a very underrated outing. I asked her five days before the dance, she bought her dress that night, I rented my tux the next day, bought the tickets the day after that, made reservations the night before, and still had an excellent time. Even better, her parents only took one picture. It was great. And despite seeming rushed, both of us were totally comfortable and had a good time.
