Do people actually like MacGyver or is that just a big 'Simpsons' joke?

I gots Season 1 of MacGyver...He's just as cool on Stargate, except no Swiss-Army knife, no ducttape, no gettin the girl (who in this case would be Amanda Tapping, who I would LOVE to get....)

BULL!
He got the girl on more than one occasion.
When they were in parallel universes he had the girl in more than one of them, and in 406 - Window of Opportunity he got the girl again 😛
He also gets the girl that isn't Tapping like when he's stranded off world for 100 days (might be the ep is called 100 days) and he gets with this woman, or another episode where he goes to a planet where there's little nanothingies which make everyone age, and he gets the girl then.
That said, I think Daniel gets more action than Jack does in the show. Hathor > *

And another one: Where they all get infected by the virus which makes them act like neanderthals, Tapping goes for Jack in that one as well 😛

MacGyver was ridiculously awful, and anyone with half a brain past 12 years old knew it.

Hense the Simpson's joke.

The Simpson's writers are supposedly fans of McGyver and Richard Dean Anderson. The joke comes in because of Patti and Selma's ritualistic fetish of watching the show.

True, but none of those were really that serious, except for 100 Days...Window of Opportunity was a "lets have fun before the reset button" (Which I loved), the last episode you refered to ("The Bronca Divide", Season 1, Episode 3) was when they were under the influence (Sam+itty bitty tank top>most all)...With all of that said, who wouldn't want to tap Amanda Tapping? 😛

True, Hathor was INSANELY HOT (espicially the whole "the method of getting 'the code' from your species is extrememly satisifying" while stripping and the whole barely-there costume), but Sam>** (Yeah, she owns all, even those who don't exist!) Need proof? Proof 1
Proof 2

I think you're too old to have enjoyed it... I loved it when I was a kid, as an adult I recognize how cheesy it was.

The poll proves it, MacGyver was a great show. I also like to watch Stargate SG-1, which has Anderson.

The only thing this poll shows is that you nerds have horrible taste in tv shows. 😛

The one episode that comes to mind was when they were locked in a walk-in freezer at (an airport?)
MacGyver used the lightbulb to melt water which ran down a trough into the door where it froze and expanded, forcing the door open.

I was thinking, "wtf. The water would freeze ON the trough, well before it made it to the door. Hey, MacGyver, the door will flex slightly. If you kick it hard, right in the center, it will open." (from experience)

me>MacGyver

I saw this same episode a couple weeks ago. He also cuts up a magnesium bike and mixes it with iron oxide (rust!) to make a "thermite torch" to cut through a armored car door. But 10 minutes later, you see MacGyver standing next to an acetylene torch. Why didn't he just use that torch? I guess he was just showing off his badassness. It's dumb now, but I loved that show when I was a kid.

The show ruled till some kids try to blow themselves up and lied to the police that they learned the tricks on MacGyver. That was a lie because the show NEVER once had MacGyver make a bomb or any device like it. Of course, the show STOPPED showing MacGyver making neat gadgets and ratings went down the tube.

As I said in the other thread, I met Richard Dean Anderson in '91 while filming an episode at a ski resort. Nice guy.
