Do people actually do this?

It's a noble goal, but futile. I could see doing it for high risk sites, but there's too much out there for a complete archive made by private parties.
 
Back in the day, I was the first kid on the block to get a CD burner. I backed up my Geocities website...all ten megs of it. Heh.
