For some crazed reason I didn't drill the holes for the pins where the fins where already missing. :disgust: Hmm then I could sell my old one for a few $$ hmmmm.

The chipset cooler on my DFI Ultra-D started making horrible grinding noises, so I emailed DFI about replacement options without having to send the whole board in. DFI support replied suggesting that I use an Evercool heatsink to replace it while I sent the OEM one in:
Evercool "twinkling" VGA cooler
Under $8, so not too shabby. Just got it in yesterday and installed it- it needed no modification whatsoever to fit. Chipset temp went down (40C idle compared to the 50C I was getting with the stock DFI heatsink) and my videocard clears it just fine.
The DFI tech said that I could send the original fan back in, but that I'd probobly decide to keep the Evercool on even when the replacement arrived. Now I think he could be right.![]()

How about the noise level? I'm looking at this as a alternative to the Vantec IceberQ copper. The kicker for the Vantec fan is the noise rating (26dB). How loud is that Evercool fan you just installed?

Some things I realized after the fact, the Iceberg4 Premium and the Iceberg4 Premium Pro are two different sizes, the Pro is larger than the non-Pro. SVC's specs say that the Pro has a 45mm fan compared to the 40mm of the non-Pro. Glad that evercool unit worked for you.

Look for "NB cooler mod".
There are some things I wish I had done differently but right now I don't feel like dropping $15 for another cooler.
Unfortunately when my host (OvermindDL1) changes servers something went very wrong with the DNS updating to the new IP address. Arrrg! If you add this lineOriginally posted by: sauria
I'd love to see that link -- it seems broken now. Thanks! I want to put an iceberq 4 pro on a dfi sli-dr and I'm not sure if it will fit
