Do online contact lens sources verify your prescription?

As the title states; do they call the doctor to verify that the prescription is correct?

Probably a roll of the dice on if they actually do or not, but I'm pretty sure they should. When my prescriptions expire and I try to dodge the exam the eye nazis tell me how contacts are just like prescription drugs and black federalisimo helicopters will come silence me in the middle of the night if I somehow acquire them without a current prescription.

I never understood why?

Maybe they think an outdated prescription can hurt your eyes or something if you wear lenses that no longer provide the proper correction.

I used to misbehave and sleep in my contacts and the eye doctor was always complaining that if I didn't stop sleeping in them blah blah blah next year I wouldn't get a prescription but a bag of coal instead.

Hence, my trying to dodge the exams................

Oh and on topic...they do, at least when I ordered they did. My eye doctor back home used to give me annual contacts - when I was in school, I went to an eye doctor on campus (actually it was the medical school). I was slightly perturbed when no one at that office - not the medical students that did my basic exam or the actual doctor that came in afterwards - had even HEARD of longer than a monthly contact. I realize they are "old fashioned", but come on....you're an eye doctor and you've never heard of annual contacts?

Last time I tried they called my doctor. Also, 1800 contacts was about $10 MORE than in store local.
