Do Not Spam!

My State Senator has proposed a "Do Not Spam" registry similar to the "Do Not Call" registry for telemarketers.
It's an interesting concept, but I'm not sure how it would be implemented.

Do Not Spam

I'd be afraid to put my email address on it, since I don't get any spam now, making my address public couldn't help at all.

I wouldn't work. Most spam comes from international locations anyway - ironically something like this would outsource revenues even more!

I was thinking about that when the do not call list came out. It would be interesting, thats for sure. However, I could see a lot of companies getting fined mistakenly, since a lot of spam comes from their servers, but is not being send out by them, rather from someone who exploited their mail server

SPAM! Oh...wait...

Hmm...I don't think it's going to work because the internet is just too darn big and much spam comes from overseas.

Unfortunately, that list would INCREASE spam - most of it comes from overseas, and a publicsized list of "hot" email addresses such as the ones that would be signed up would be worth BILLIONS to spammers.
